KidsTerrain Relaunches Informational Web Site For Parents, Teachers & Workplace
WILMINGTON, MA, Feb 6th, 2007 — When KidsTerrain incorporated in July 2000, their mission was to provide resources and tools that helped children and the individuals involved in their lives develop self-esteem, create an environment for positive growth, and manage issues encountered through all phases of life. "The company set out to accomplish this by providing an informational web site and products and services specifically designed and developed for children, families, and other caring individuals," said KidsTerrain CEO Maggie Moran.
"In our extensive outreach to parents and children over the years, we recognized the rippling effect of the home with outside environments. This led us to expand our mission to include teachers and employers," added Rena Hannaford, President of KidsTerrain, Inc.
"To that end, we've segmented the KidsTerrain web site, www.kidsterrain.com, into three neighborhoods: @ Home, @ School, and @ Work. Each neighborhood is devised to meet the challenges that parents, teachers, employees and employers encounter when dealing with child and family issues," Hannaford said. "The newly revised web site addresses the complete impact of these environments on the lives of children, families, and workers."
Each KidsTerrain neighborhood has its own resource center filled with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), suggested reading lists, survey research, and poll results. Visitors will also find Let's Talk About, a resource guide to promote conversation on various challenging subjects facing kids today; Each neighborhood also includes Discussion Boards where parents, teachers, employees and employers can leave a message, give advice, or ask a question of others on challenging issues and topics of concern.
"Teachers may wish to engage in issues such as communicating with parents or classroom management. Some of the topics under discussion in the @ Work Neighborhood are flex time, personal coaching, and day care concerns," said Hannaford.
"The @ Home Discussion Boards have generated well over a dozen different topics, from depression to divorce to instilling healthy attitudes in children," added Moran. "And one expansion we are really excited about is the addition of webinars."
For a nominal fee, visitors to the web site can partake in multi-media, comprehensive web-based programs presented by KidsTerrain's team of experts and clinicians. "The web-based programs—webinars—are available 24/7, on your own time, and in the comfort of your own home," Hannaford said. Webinar topics planned for 2007 include Finding Your Quiet Space, Resilience, Talking With Kids About Body Confidence, Bullying in the Workplace, and Special Education, to name a few.
The web site is also home to the KidsTerrain Neighborhood Store, offering products and goods designed especially for KidsTerrain, including books and CDs developed by the company's New Voices Publishing division.
