Integrative Medicine For Behavioral Health informational seminar series to be presented this fall
Beginning on Saturday, September 29, Walden Behavioral Care and KidsTerrain, Inc. will co-sponsor a series of five seminars that will explore the field of integrative medicine as it pertains to psychiatry and mental health treatment. These interactive presentations will offer clinicians practical tools for understanding how nutritional biochemistry may enhance the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and eating disorders. The seminars will be held at Children's Hospital Boston Waltham Campus, Flaschner Conference Room A, located at 9 Hope Avenue in Waltham. The sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The seminars are presented by James Greenblatt, M.D., a nationally-renown expert in the study of how the dietary habits of children profoundly effect brain development, the ability to pay attention, and behavior.
The series will review current theory and clinical applications of nutritional therapies in the treatment of mental illness. The program will also introduce clinicians to Referenced-EEG, an exciting new technology that utilizes standard electroencephalography equipment to predict medication sensitivity, thereby providing objective findings to guide clinicians in the choice of medications.
James M. Greenblatt, M.D. is the Founder and Medical Director of Comprehensive Psychiatric Resources, Inc. and Chief Medical Officer of Walden Behavioral Care in Waltham, Massachusetts. A dually board-certified child and adult psychiatrist, Dr. Greenblatt combines his interest in alternative treatments for psychiatric disorders with a traditional background in medicine. He lectures throughout the United States to professionals and families on the scientific evidence of complementary therapies for psychiatric disorders.
The series begins on Saturday, September 29, with Integrative Therapies in the Treatment of Depression and Mood Disorders. Subsequent seminars include: Integrative Therapies in the Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety and Panic Disorder on October 13; Integrative Therapies in the Treatment of ADHD and Behavior Disorders in Children and Adolescents on October 20; Integrative Therapies in the Treatment of Eating Disorders on November 3; and Referenced-EEG: A New Technology Guiding Clinicians in Determining the Most Effective Psychiatric Medications on November 17.
