The Better Business Bureau and WorkTerrain—Helping Businesses Do Better
Massachusetts—March 11, 2008. The Better Business Bureau of Central New England has partnered with WorkTerrain, a division of KidsTerrain, Inc., to help businesses gain a competitive advantage through employee training. The KidsTerrain corporate office is located in Wilmington, MA and the company has satellite offices in Charlton and Sturbridge, MA as well as Hollywood, FL and N. Woodstock, NH. "The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is committed to providing our accredited businesses the help they need to run their companies in accordance to the highest ethical and execution standards," said Ramon Frias, President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Central New England, Inc. While the cost of training may be prohibitive to many companies, it does not need to be thanks to the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund—a grant program for employers to train their MA-based employees. “With a Workforce Training Fund grant, employers incur little or no direct, out-of-pocket subcontracted training costs,” explained WorkTerrain CEO Rena Hannaford. “And we’ll assist companies in writing these training grants, at no cost, when they contract the training through us.” Training has become a necessary cost of doing business. In order to stay competitive, it is vital for companies to keep the skill levels of their employees current. A growing emphasis has been placed on soft skills training. “Ensuring that your employees know how to handle themselves and how to relate with customers, clients, and workers is the crux of soft skills training,” said Hannaford. “Seminars such as Managing Today's Diverse Workforce, Developing and Training Key Employees, Dealing With Difficult People, Customer Service workshops, Building Resilience, and Stress Management teach vital competencies that are integral to a progressive organization.” On the technical training side, WorkTerrain “provides seminars on Effective Team Building for Managers, Lean Six Sigma for Manufacturing or Service Industries, Value Stream Management. Kepner Tregoe, Managing Technology, to name just a few,” added Anne Ide, Director of Business Development for WorkTerrain. “All told, we offer nearly one-hundred training programs.” The full selection of soft skills and technical training seminars and workshops can be perused on the WorkTerrain web site, www.workterrain.com. "We are proud to be able to team up with WorkTerrian to deliver to our accredited businesses much needed assistance in the area of workforce training," added Frias.
