The Magic In Me - Helping Children Find Their Magic
"The Magic in Me is an empowering story. It serves as a springboard for important conversations between children and the caring adults in their lives. The story encourages children to discover their own unique "magic." It will be enjoyed and appreciated by both children and adults." - David Fassler, M.D., and author of Help Me, I'm Sad: Recognizing, Treating and Preventing Childhood and Adolescent Depression.
Finding one's magic is a simple lesson that our children need to learn. Self-esteem issues impact all their activities and children may not recognize that their talents and abilities represent the magic in them.
The Magic in Me is the first in a series of illustrated children's books from New Voices Publishing. They are designed to help children and the adults in their lives create a healthy and helpful dialogue regarding issues facing children in everyday life. Written by KidsTerrain co-founder Maggie Moran, the story features 5-year old Max, one of the six multicultural KidsTerrain kids.
When Max's teacher poses the question, "Who knows what magic is?" Max tells his class that his Aunt Rena said that he has magic in him. His classmates are eager to learn what that magic may be. And do they have it, too?
The Magic in Me is written for children, their parents, and the other adults in their lives. The author provides questions at the end of the story to aid adults in an open dialogue with their children.
Maggie Moran is the Co-founder and CEO of KidsTerrain. Her work in pediatrics and child psychiatry has influenced both the development of KidsTerrain and the writing of this book.
The Magic in Me by Maggie Moran is available for $14.95 at local bookstores or by calling New Voices Publishing at 978-658-2131. Original edition, 710, 28 pages, original color illustrations by Chie Sasaki. ISBN: 1-931642-02-8.
